We are very lucky in Vale da Telha not only to have the beautiful beaches but also to have the new Aljezur swimming pool and other private pools to use.
The three local beaches to Vale da Telha – Arrifana, Monte Clerigo and Amoreira – are all extremely popular in summer. Arrifana and Monte Clerigo have Blue Flags and they all have nearby facilities such as toilets, some disabled access, parking (can be limited) and local cafes and restaurants.
All of these three beaches have lifeguard stations in summer. Please take good note of what flags they are flying because the Atlantic coast can have strong currents. In addition some of the beaches are favourites for surfing and other sports so the lifeguards often designate special swimming-only areas.
Municipal Swimming Pool
If swimming in the somewhat cold Atlantic is not your idea of fun you can do some serious lane swimming at the new municipal pool just outside Aljezur.
For the summer season the pool is open from from 09.00 to 17.00 until 12 August. Thereafter, the sports complex will close for maintenance. The opening of the new season will be September 19, 2011.
There are also a number of private pools available for non-residential use. For example, the Hotel Vale da Telha accepts visitors to their fantastic pool area at a cost of 5euros per person per day. The campsite on the road to Rogil also has facilities that non-residents can use. For the most up-to-date information please always check with the providers.
