There are three main beaches around Vale da Telha, Arrifana, Monte Clerigo and Amoreira. Further afield but still in the Aljezur district are Praia da Odeciexe, Praia do Vale dos Homens, Vale de Figueira, Carrapateira (Bordeira) and Amado. We are lucky in this part of the Algarve to have such an array of fabulous beaches which are ideal for surfing, body-boarding, swimming and sun-bathing. We tend to have a lot more waves than the south coast so it is essential to be careful on our beaches and with the almost constant sea breeze the temperatures are also slightly lower (but still can be pretty hot!)
Arrifana
Arrifana is reputed to be one of the top 200 surfing beaches in the world and often has competitions in its sheltered bay. The waves here tend to be crisp and clean and on a good day it is ideal for swimming. Arrifana is a beautiful beach which usually has Blue Flag status thanks to good facilities, lifeguards and clean water. The only possible downside to Arrifana is the steep drive down which can be extremely busy as the weather warms up.
